Inspiration and Muse [No Fate?]
I’m currently doing research and crafting a blog about me crafting my own future. In this my 2 greatest sources of inspirations the podcasts RSA and London Real. If you haven’t seen or heard him start with checking out Jason Silva at London Real and check out his new Shots of Awe.
Apart from Inspiration I also need a Muse. To get me into the right mode. And here I’m watching the second season of Continuum at the moment.
“Nobody can tell us who we are, Julian. We create our own future, that’s the only destiny that there is.” — Alec, Continuum
Here is my Review of Episode 9 “Seconds” on Season 2
The Myth of Pure Evil [The Storytelling Way]
Kiera here is the victim of the Myth of Pure Evil. She believes that all has the right to second chance except the true devils. Future Julian may be a monster who sees that the end justifies the means. But he still believes that he is doing the right thing. Himself being a victim to the myth of pure evil. This Episode really brings forth that this show itself is not the victim to the myth of pure evil. Even if it has set up much of the narrative around Kiera as being the good cop fighting evil criminals.
I just love how Continuum makes me think about my own future and my own fate. Can I craft it as I go along? For me this is one of the better philosophical shows in along with Revenge, Suits, The Borgias, Doll House, Battlestar Galatica, The Sarah Connor Chronicles and of course Game of Thrones 🙂
Also check out the podcast Liber 8 their talk about this episode Show 045 – 2×09 Seconds
“Our principals are the only line between order and chaos” — Carlos, Continuum
The Crafting Architect [Let’s Make the Future a Collaborative Effort]
In the spirit of crafting the Future together the fans of the show has until 29 July to help decide how the story should evolve. In favor of #Liber8Now or #1FutureOurWay. Check out the Campaign and do your vote. So if you aren’t up to speed to last episodes you are in for one hell of a Weekend 🙂

It’s a Trap … Life is a Trap … Let’s Get Caught Together 😉
How do you embrace life and the hand that you have been dealt? What plays can you make? Can you swap cards? Is it a team game? What Defines a Win?
What is important? [And why don’t we do it then?]
I have previously talk about that Life is a Game in my series The Great Masquerade. Hell it’s even my life motto. And I got to put it on my Game of Thrones House banner:
But if we where the clear-headed gamers that could analyse every move before we make them. And then make the most rationalized logical move to further our agenda and score. Then life would look very different indeed. Why can’t we do that? I say it’s because life is different kind of game.
Anyone can be an Agent of Change.
Every action changes something.
Choosing to do nothing is an active choice.

Yes Do Grow Up [Let’s get a Self-Transforming Mind]
Yes we do need to grow up. But not in the old boring way the old world think about it. But to get what Robert Kegan calls The Self-Transforming Mind. He gives an excellent talk about it on the RSA : The Further Reaches of Adult Development: Thoughts on the ‘Self-Transforming’ Mind.
Yes. At our current way in society only 1% of us, at the most, will reach this level around when they hit level 40. So herein lies a great challenge. We need to grow up. We need to grow up like never before to reach this level of mind and thinking.
As I see it, humanity’s greatest challenge in a globalized world can be put very simply: “How can we learn to live in each other’s backyards?” For the first time in the history of our species, a globalized world confronts us with a task for which a collection of Socialized Minds is inadequate. Such a complex challenge is unlikely to be met solely through better leadership, policies, or technology. I believe that it must be met through more complex thinking, and that responsibility is up to all of us. — Peter W. Pruyn
Life is trap in the sense that we can only go forward. Don’t cling on to the past and the olden ways of system thinking. Let’s embrace a whole new level of our minds — Lord Sillion

I found a new great podcast [What Podcast do you listen too?]
Imagine the Fish [Problem finders and Thinkers]
Eddie is an educator that’s educate organizations on how to get along in the “New World”. He doesn’t tell people what to do. He teaches them to figure out what to do. The old saying “Give a man fish” doesn’t apply anymore. Here is Eddies modified variant.
Teach a man how to learn how to fish and he may also learn how to hunt, farm, produce works of art or cook.
Teach a man how to teach others to fish and you feed the village and then the world. And for you, again for 2013 and onwards I now say – First, IMAGINE A FISH. — Eddie Obeng
In the Old World your boss was someone who had done your job along time ago and know how to do it. But now everything has changed. Now your boss must help you facilitate you doing stuff that he has just a vague idea of how to do.
Daniel Pink I have to talk to before in Life’s a pitch [How you can “Sell” and Persuade better].
Psilocybin [One of Hive-Switch Tiggers]
Also check out Dr. Robin Carhart-Harris talking about the effects of Psilocybin & MDMA and how they could be used to help with depression and addiction, his controversial colleague Professor David Nutt who claimed Cannabis & Ecstasy were safer & less addictive than Alcohol & Tobacco.
Other great Podcasts[What is your inspiration podcasts?]
Other great podcasts that inspire me is of course The RSA that I have talked about before on my Inspiration Lists. What make The RSA so great is the fact that after a person have given their presentation there is a short conversation follow by live question from the audience and Twitter. So that it becomes a dialog instead.
Other interesting podcasts is TED Radio Hour and HBR Podcast.
Gaming and Swedish
For eSports I currently listen to LowElo for League Of Legends.
Listen to more enriching PodCasts. What have I missed?
We are all connected [Let’s spin up this networked intelligence and see what pops out on the other side]
Hacker’s guide to the Galaxy
One of the best today was from Ariel Waldman, @arielwaldman, who works at NASA and Talks about how NASA in 60ties where just hackars hacking their way into space. To put a man on the moon. Listen to her talk The Hacker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
As I was listening to this speech I was sitting in my bedroom with my daughter. We where watching the sundown and the New moon. We where also looking for the Comet Panstarrs. But we didn’t see it. But still. Watching the Moon together is something we all should do more often.
Hacking my life
Tomorrow is WebCoast in Gothenburg. There I will meet 250 awesome people who all share the love to the web and the new networked society. There I will hold a session of my own that will hack my life to the better.
Tonight I also listened a little to Common Humanity: Making ‘us vs. them’ history from The RSA . The key here is that what ever historians and leaders tell us. We where never as separated in the past as they make us out to have been.
Collaboration, compassion, loving ones neighbors & common humanity always been aspects of the human condition.
And that is what this new Networked society is all about. If we have always done it there is much hope that we can pull it together now in this dire hour here on planet Earth.
Let us all hack and experiment together to build a better future here on our own space ship called Earth
The Moon made us [What do we make?]
Without TED, no Blogg 100?
Read an interesting post from Fredrik Torstensson that TED is very inspirational for us bloggers. I only have one little problem with TED. And it is that is one way.
Most of best inspiration for my research I have done. That have used in my 3 blogs. I have gotten from The RSA and the 1 hour long audio version of their talks. They just sometimes select the best of the best.
But one of the best reasons for me liking them so much is that is just not a one way presentation. No most of the time goes to a discussion and questions from the audience on site and live on Twitter. I have gotten 2 very good answer my self, to god questions asked live on Twitter.
But I have found something that makes TED better and it is TED Radio Hour. You can find them as a podcast if you search for it. Here we are given a discussion and a good analysis of the TED talks. With the actual person that gave their talks.
Let’s get more conversations going around the Ideas that everyone have
Here are 3 favorite i listen to today: I will expand on them tomorrow
Fixing Our Broken Systems with Philip K. Howard, Jane McGonigal and Barry Schwarts.
Building A Better Classroom with Sir Ken Robinson, Salman Khan and John Hunter.
Where Ideas Come From with Matt Ridley, Susan Cain and Steven Johnson.
Moon my father, Earth my Mother
Today i also saw a very interesting documentary about The Moon on Swedish TV: Vetenskapens Värld. They present some very compelling theories about how much the collision with another planet that created out moon has meant for there being life on Earth at all.
There is many reasons to watch the moon in awe. I just got another. Tonight I walked the winter woods with my dog staring at the Full Moon. Let’s #MoonWatch together.
We are all Sinners and Liars
Well the Pope is right. We are all sinners.
What would make us to cheat less?
According to Dan Ariely and his research we lie all the time. In fact, as I said before. We can never tell the truth. Just a mere Truthy Tale. But what would make want to tell a story as truth worthy as possible? What would make us to cheat less?
Anything that reminds of our moral code. Like reciting the ten commandments. Religion got a hang of this many thousands of years ago. So when ever we get put in a position to make a decision where we could cheat and lie we must be reminded of something that stands for our morality.
If you want more you can Listen to or read his latest book The (Honest) Truth about Dishonesty: How We Lie to Everyone – Especially Ourselves.
What can The Borgias teach us?
Another Pope sinner of rank is Rodrigo Lanzol Borgia masterfully portrayed by Jeremy Irons in the TV-Series The Borgias. Power corrupts and we must recognize that our most powerful decision makers are in dire need of moral guidance.
AS I finish this up I’m listening to Obama doing The State of the Union. I’m happy to hear that he intends to spend more in Science and Research. Especially to stop Climate Change. More about this later in the week.
Are you on the right path towards your future? [Är du på rätt spår mot din egen framtid?]
If you like History and Movies go see Lincon.
Today I saw Lincon the movie in the cinema. This is the third movie about Lincon that I have seen in a short while. The other 2 are The Conspirator and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. None of these 3 movies are true. You can never retell the Truth. Just a mere truthy tale. Guess which one is most fictionalized? 😉
Never the less. They all had interesting things to tell me about history and what it means to be a “human” (Not a vampire) both then and now. They all made me think!
I love this kind of storytelling that brings me back in time. It makes me think about the Future.
Past and Future
Today was also the RSA event The World Until Yesterday: What we can learn from traditional societies. For now you find info on Twitter until the event podcast is published. What I personally take away from it today is:
When building tomorrows society we must preserve our cultural past in a way that… Fuses the best lessons from the Past with the values of Today. And then combines it with the best ideas from tomorrows Science Fiction thinking.
We must then tell the story about this tomorrows society. Using the best Storytellers today. So that all may believe it to be a possible. A goal for all humankind on Planet Earth.
Pecha Kucha night
Tonight also was Pecha Kucha Night in Gothenburg. I went there to be inspired for my own speech on thursday and meet one of my best new friends @MikuMaria.
2. Vad längtar jag efter för närvarande? [What do I long for at the moment?]
Be mindful about what is important for you
Take a moment for yourself and sit quiet for 5 minutes and think about these 2 questions below. When you are done select all the text on this page to see my answers and compare them to yours. On a mobile device click this link.
[What does it mean for me to be rich for real?]
1. I want to feel close to my family and friends. I want to spend time with them and feel joy with them doing the things I love like dancing, exercise and playing games.
[What do I long for at the moment?]
2. I want to feel loved for who I am and for the tings I do for others. I want to spread my message about fellowship and community that I talk about in my blogs.
Do you have an inspiration list? [Har du en inspirationslista?]
As I travel the web and are trying to make sense of the world I every now and then run into something that Inspires me, Touches me, Teaches me something new or just gives me a whole new perspective on our reality. When I do I save it to one of my lists. I have started putting them on Evernote for easy accesses on my devices where ever I am.
Much of my inspiration for my 2 other blogs can be found on these 2 lists. 28 ways to get a better Life and A Sustainable Future with Co-Op. My handbook for the new skills that we need.
Understanding the world
My First list I call Links for understanding the world.
Here I have the greatest stuff. Most of it is things everyone need to understand about humanity and our life here on Earth. As you can guess if you have read any of my other blogs or posts here, the 2 biggest inspirations for me is Jane McGonigal and Jonathan Haidt.
The second one I call The Best of RSA.
Many of the people who have inspired me and my knowledge I have found so far I have found through The RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) from London. They regularly Stream live Audio and Video from there events that they later put up as a Podcast and in some cases make into the now famous RSA Animate. There is an interesting event where they describe the process of making the RSA Animate.
The list I have put together is the events that I myself find the most interesting.
Tweet to the Live event
During the live streaming of the RSA events you can even get your questions answered live by tweeting them to the right account. You will find who to Tweet to using the event’s specific Hashtag found under the events description.
I have done so myself several times 🙂
Now I want to know what have Inspired you? And do you have a list of your own that you can share below? Please do! Thank you!
No Shit Sherlock
Idag lyssnade jag på en jätteintressant Livesändning från The RSA i London. The Scientific Method Of The Mind: What Sherlock Holmes can teach us about decision making. Maria Konnikova går igenom hur viktigt det är att använda hjärnan rätt och vad vi kan lära oss från Sherlocks sätt att lösa problem.
Jag fick även med min egen fråga i Livesändningen via Twitter:
How accurate is Sherlocks behavior to modern brain science?
Maria Konnikova’s awnser is that: Holmes’ behaviour is accurate in relation to modern neuroscience, particularly mindfulness
För er som vill lyssna på det i efterhand kommer den som Podcast om några dagar.
Increase your Willpower
Som del av min min resa har jag precis gått första veckan i Kelly McGonigals onlinekurs för Viljestyrka. Boost Your Willpower: 28 Days to Create the Change You Want!
