Inspiration Lists #Blogg100

Do you have an inspiration list? [Har du en inspirationslista?]

As I travel the web and are trying to make sense of the world I every now and then run into something that Inspires me, Touches me, Teaches me something new or just gives me a whole new perspective on our reality. When I do I save it to one of my lists. I have started putting them on Evernote for easy accesses on my devices where ever I am.
Much of my inspiration for my 2 other blogs can be found on these 2 lists. 28 ways to get a better Life and A Sustainable Future with Co-Op. My handbook for the new skills that we need.

Understanding the world

My First list I call Links for understanding the world.

Here I have the greatest stuff. Most of it is things everyone need to understand about humanity and our life here on Earth. As you can guess if you have read any of my other blogs or posts here, the 2 biggest inspirations for me is Jane McGonigal and Jonathan Haidt.

The second one I call The Best of RSA.

Many of the people who have inspired me and my knowledge I have found so far I have found through The RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) from London. They regularly Stream live Audio and Video from there events that they later put up as a Podcast and in some cases make into the now famous RSA Animate. There is an interesting event where they describe the process of making the RSA Animate.

The list I have put together is the events that I myself find the most interesting.

Tweet to the Live event

During the live streaming of the RSA events you can even get your questions answered live by tweeting them to the right account. You will find who to Tweet to using the event’s specific Hashtag found under the events description.

I have done so myself several times 🙂

Now I want to know what have Inspired you? And do you have a list of your own that you can share below? Please do! Thank you!

Vad får du inspiration från? [Where do you get your inspiration?]

Skrivkramp? [Writers cramp?] Soffpotatis? [Couchpotato?] Stuck in a Human Trap?

Name Your Excuse!

I saw this classic XKCD strip on top of my Tumblr flow:

Our Own Personal Matrix

We are all stuck inside our heads with no way of knowing what kind “Matrix” we are living in. For Real! But the what does the word “Real” mean anyway? What is Real? 😉

Which leads me to to the image

There Free Beer in a Human Trap

I saw this sign earlier this week at a “Free” event. I was there with @JohanLange and @MikuMaria at It Innovations Expo 2013. And even if it we didn’t pay it’s was far from free. We invested lot of time and energy to be there. And it was worth it.

My instant reaction to the sign was:

“There is Free Beer in a Human Trap”

This reflection comes from Dan Ariely’s speech “Free Beer: The truth about dishonesty” about “How We Lie to Everyone – Especially Ourselves”

“The Truth” is such curious Human concept. The Truth can never be told but a mere “Truthy Tale” of what happened in the past. This is from my blog about Your Story

“Truth is a battle of perceptions. People only see what they’re prepared to confront. It’s not what you look at that matters but what you see. And when different perceptions battle against one another, the truth has a way of getting lost. And the monsters find a way of getting out.” — Emily Thorne

We lie when we think we can get away with it and when it will not cost us any Reputation with the group. We also lie because our StoryTelling brains can only tell stories. Truthy or not.

We share for Reputaion

Here is Johan Lange’s Bambuser recording of the free speech. He does not agree with the speaker nor do I.

We share things on the internet because we think that it will gives us a good reputation and good status. This is what most of our big social brains occupy much time with. Sharing for free isn’t that either. Sometimes we invest considerable time and effort into something we want to share and give away. We just hope this investment is worth it.

“Vi vill bli sedda, hörda och bekräftade. Alla människor fiskar efter Feedback.” — @JohanLange

We all want to appear to pull our weight in the groups we are living in. We will gladly do “free” work and share stuff on the internet for this reason. We also do this because it makes us feel productive according to the principles of PERMA.

Brain -> Reality -> The Truth -> Reputation -> Free Work -> Feedback -> Brain

And Yes. I have seen an episode of Revenge this evening to jump-start my brain.

“They say the best laid plans often go awry
Because no matter how detailed the preparation
A plan will always have weak point
And there will always be those looking to exploit it
To doom a plan to failure
And the perpetrator along with it

Every plan has a fatal flaw
Sometimes it’s the heart
Even in those who are supposed to be the most careful
But a careful nature doesn’t always ensure success
When a plan is built on an unstable foundation
Failure is not only a possibility — It’s a certainty”
— Emily Thorne in Revenge, {Sabotage}

Well my plan certainly wasn’t to stay up this late to write this. But I wouldn’t call it a failure.
