Going West [The longest trip]

This is part 2 (8) of Bro Tour USA where me Lord Sillion and my brother Fredrik visits New York and PAX East in Boston.

Today The Bro Tour began with me, Michael Sillion, and my Brother Fredrik going together to New York, Boston and PAX East.

Bro Tour Landvetter airport

Bro Tour Landvetter airport

The Flight from Landvetter to London was really cloudy but as we approached London we got some rally magic moments coming into the clouds.

I’m stuck on Heathrow waiting for my delayed flight to New York. And now internet. Me and my brother split up as we are going on separate planes. I had a delicious chicken BLT burger at Giraffe so now I’m full and ready to go. In midst of things when checking in back in Sweden I forgot to ask for a window seat. So now my only chance to get one is if I can swap with some friendly soul on the plane. Please please please…

Go west

Going west at subsonic speed chasing the never ending sundown. I didn’t get sit by the window. But I did get an ile steeting in the back so that I could run up often to go watch out the back door window. It has been mostly cloudy but I did get some great shots of an iceberg filled North Atlantic. No Sleep. Just som cheesy in-flight movie comedies. There where an impressive list of some 30 new Movies to watch like Silver Lining Playbook, Argo, Cloud Atlas, Anna Karenia, Lincon, Life of Pi. But the audio and video quality is just bearable and it is really hard to hear what they are saying so go for som easy watching where the illusion of disbelief it not so easily broken. A few of them even have english subtitles witch really helps.

First out was the very silly comedy “The Campaign” with Will Ferrell. Not the best in it’s genre of Political Satire but it has som very important points about doing right. And the silliness of the act that enables companies to directly buy decisions now.

Second was “Playing for Keeps” with Gerard Butler and Jessica Biel. An ok movie that raises some questions about what is worth doing in your life that you won’t regret doing.

As the sun is slowly winning the race west I watch out the window. How easy it is to take things for granted. For me this is the greatest of adventures. The jet stream passes by the window at almost ridiculous speed.

More waiting

Even if my plane was 1 hour late this is getting ridiculous
for my broth 2 hours. Apparently they have 3 people working with getting 600 people through cutoms. Finally Arrived at The New Yorker Hotell 01:00.

God Night New York

End of the Road

The Best session today was from Dr PO and Johan Lange. It’s about Earth Society version 3.0. See it blow in Swedish. We have come to the end of the old society. There are 3 inevitable ways we can change to a new one. Preferable The Networked Society. One thing is sure: We have come to the end of the road. We are are either learning how to fly or we are going to crash hard. The Change Scenarios are:

1. Catastrophe
2. Crusade
3. Small iterating steps

Theseus Day

Theseus Day is the day in Contimuum that started it all. With out spoiling it I can say that it triggers all kind thoughts around Fate, Destiny, Free Will and a deterministic Universe. If You haven’t seen the show I can really recommend it if you can find it. It’s a little bit cheesy and as usual in most Science Fiction there is very little talk about Social Media and The Network Society.

Anyhow. Referring to  the 3 scenarios above. There will come a day that you will instantly know that this is the day that a big change will begin to happen. What are your thoughts about it?

This summer the 3 of us will go to Almedalen and set up shop. There we will bring more light on the subject. Changing Sweden and the education of it’s new citizens.

Can we HACK the Galaxy together? #Blogg100

#050 [L]
We are all connected [Let’s spin up this networked intelligence and see what pops out on the other side]

As the list on fills up with sessions from SXSWi, I fill up mine with sessions I have and will listen to. Check out all my posts from SXSW.

Hacker’s guide to the Galaxy

One of the best today was from Ariel Waldman, @arielwaldman, who works at NASA and Talks about how NASA in 60ties where just hackars hacking their way into space. To put a man on the moon. Listen to her talk The Hacker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

As I was listening to this speech I was sitting in my bedroom with my daughter. We where watching the sundown and the New moon. We where also looking for the Comet Panstarrs. But we didn’t see it. But still. Watching the Moon together is something we all should do more often.

Hacking my life

Tomorrow is WebCoast in Gothenburg. There I will meet 250 awesome people who all share the love to the web and the new networked society. There I will hold a session of my own that will hack my life to the better.

Tonight I also listened a little to Common Humanity: Making ‘us vs. them’ history from The RSA . The key here is that what ever historians and leaders tell us. We where never as separated in the past as they make us out to have been.

Collaboration, compassion, loving ones neighbors & common humanity always been aspects of the human condition.

And that is what this new Networked society is all about. If we have always done it there is much hope that we can pull it together now in this dire hour here on planet Earth.

Let us all hack and experiment together to build a better future here on our own space ship called Earth

Do you work like Leonardo DaVinci? [3D printing yourself]

Today I have listened to many more sessions from #SXSWi. Some of them great and I just want to share the here. As before I have them all collected in my list.

Cred from my hometown Varberg has also been in Austin and South bu SouthWest. Read their blog in Swedish that explains well what SXSW is all about: Keep Austin Weird

MakerBot 3D printing

Bre Pettis talks about the 3D printer MakerBot in Games: Anyone. Anywhere. Anytime. with the opening introduction to SXSWi also. It’s amazing story about the process about making 3D printing. And they apparently have a retail store in New York. So guess what I’m going to do when I visit New York next week? Read more about it on TechCrunch.

Bre Pettis demos a 3D Laser scanner for doing 3D printing with MakerBot

So get on the internet and use it as mush as you can. Start spreading ideas and network!

The Universe has always been trying to kill us #Blogg100

#054 [LIV]
I don’t want to be the laughing stock of a galaxy [I fuckn love science]

I was watching John Stewart talking to Neil deGrasse Tyson and they come up with some wonderful quotes like this:

John: Why are there asteroids trying to kill us?
Neil: The Universe has always been trying to kill us

and this:

I don’t want to be the laughing stock of our galaxy
When aliens learn that we all went extinct from an asteroid
When we had a space program that could have done something about it
That would just be embarrassing — Neil deGrasse Tyson

Take a look at the whole episode or just the 3 extended Neil deGrasse Tyson parts: Part 1, Part 2 , Part 3

We only react when a bad things happen

If you as human race now has a chance to divert only a fraction of the resources you burn each day here on planet Earth to come up with solutions and contingency plans for some likely devastating scenarios. You just need a kick in the but first to do so. You need some bad catastrophes that don’t kill to many of you first. Should we Engineer them for you or just wait for them to happen? Or we could just create some form of crusade that we all could join in on. Like an epic quest in World of Warcraft. What do you think? Should we help you?

Wall street is back like never before

Who new that among Wall street many charms and talents was the healing ability of Wolverine
We already know we had the damaging power of Wolverine — John Stewart

So put on our best trekking boots and let’s make life a journey worth telling your grandchildren about.

I will commandeer a new vessel [Where we are going we don’t need winds]

Right now many people I follow on Twitter is in Austin Texas on South by SouthWest or short #SXSW
This is a harbor where I wold lay my anchor too right now if the winds would have been kind to me. But as it is my ship where forced to take another course and ended up NxNE instead.

Next year I will captain a new vessel that will take me there. I have also plotted course for Alemdalen this summer here In Sweden.

But first next week and the week before that I will visit some exiting places. First out is WebCoast in Gothenburg. There I will meet many fellow Ninjas and Pirates. We will be discussing many important topics regarding this new network society of ours. This is where my heart and mind lies. For helping building this new networked intelligence is what I intend my craft to be.

The week after that me and my 2 year younger brother will be visit North America. First time for med and second time for my brother. We will go there in airship to the international space port New York. We are going to stay there for a while and the move on the land way to Boston and Geek Mecka, namley PAX East.

Make it so!

Mia Törnblom on Personal Leadership [The 69 Eyes has found their confidence]

You wanna rock (rock)
Nothing’s gonna make you stop
And nothing’s gonna break you up
Everybody knows you’re lost
In the night time, honey
Lost boys

Tonight I have rocked. With The 69 Eyes. My favorite Rock band of them all. Finally they got the concert that they and we deserved here in Gothenburg. They rocked like they never done before. Maybe the have found their live confidence. They gave me a real Fiero moment!

Start with explaining a personal Why

Earlier today Mia Törnblom gave a very inspiring speech about finding you own personal confidence and motivation. She says the same thing as Simon Sinek. You have to start with explaining what each and every person stand to gain by doing something. Start explaining WHY.

Mia is also releasing a new book called “Du Säljer [You are Selling]. It almost the same as as the latest book from Daniel Pink, To Sell is Human. See my blog about Daniels talk here.

Inner strength

You must also find your Inner strength. It is like an account that you deposit positive energy. Then when when the going gets though you can withdraw the same energy. But you can not overdraw your account because that is when you start hurting yourself.

Mia Törnblom

Mia Törnblom – Fiero Moment

You must also have time for Reflection. Do a reflection journal each day before you sleep. It’s kind like the Grateful exercise that I mention before.

Fiero Moment

You should celebrate each small victory each day with a Fiero Moment. Read some about Fiero here the way Jane McGonigal describes it. I got my Fiero moment during The 69 Eyes concert 🙂

Tweetup with United States of Tikka

Before the 69 Eyes concert, I organised  a Tweepup. There a I had a very interesting conversation about life and The Future with Katarina “United States of” Tikka @ustikka. See you at WebCoast next weekend.
